Doreatha Kjellsen: Student Exchange Programme. Ask your school administrator if they participate. We had kids from the Czech Republic, Autralia, and all other sorts of places. We also sent kids away, and I think it was around $5000. Get a summer job and invest in Certificates of Deposit. By next year, you should have a decent amount of money, especially if your parents help you out....Show more
Blaine Connett: I went to Spain for a month this past summer (I'm 17) and it was over $10,000! (I went with Summer Discovery: http://www.summerdiscovery.com ) It's crazy how expensive it is.I know that AFS is a study abroad program that is willing to pay for some of the trip (so then you would have to raise around $2,000 - $3,000, which is a lot cheaper than what I did). Try getting a part-time job or babysit. Just ask your school and see what you can do! Good luck!...Show more
