Arlen Hamper: I like to drive at night when I go on a long trip (we take a 10-11 hr. trip at least once a year). If I can't go at night, I try to leave around naptime. However, if I leave late at night or really early in the morning like 3am she sleeps through most of the trip; her carseat reclines so that makes it much more comfortable. If you are going to leave with your child awake plan on the trip being a couple hours longer, it always is for me.Things in the car my daughter likes to do:1. DVD player; Mainly Barney and Sesame Street2. Stop every couple hours to get some of that energy out at a rest stop3. New toys from the $1 store or somewhere4. I bring our dog and they keep each other entertained in the backseatI bring plenty of snacks and drinks. I don't like her to eat in her carseat in case she chokes, so something like puffs is a good choice....Show more
Katheryn Skrobacki: if you have a dvd player bring it with you and let him watch movies and hop! efully he will fall asleep. take toys that he can play with and have snacks and drinks for him too
Joesph Smithmyer: I agree with the above poster, a dvd player really is a good idea. We just purchased one from Walmart.com for this summer when we are traveling. My daughter is 16 months old and loves "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse", so we bought a dvd player with two screens that fit on the headrests of the seats and some Mickey Mouse dvd's to help keep her entertained. We are going on a short 3 day trip in the middle of this month,so I plan on using the dvd player then also....Show more
