Star Gollnick: never come across engine sounding better by changing air intakes but we live and learn. I do know exhaust changes have a major impact or output noise and also affect power output. an air intake will have an effect on engine output though.
Jose Bouliouris: This Site Might Help You.RE:Would a short Ram intake make a car sound louder?I know that a Cold Air Intake makes the car sound a bit louder, but I heard that the rain might be a problem. So I have been looking into a short Ram, but not sure if it would make the car sound good? The car is a 2001 civic(I'm not really into the HP gain too much, just make the car sound a......Show more
Andra Oger: Yes it will make the car sound better. Open the hood up, take your drop-in filer out and leave the box open. Start the car with your box and hood up, stick your head out the window and listen to it. On my 1990 Celica it makes it sound much louder . Once you put a good short ram or cold air intak! e on it it will allow more air to the engine,, just like your open air filter box is doing⦠hence making it louder
Bettye Arre: well short ram is a cold air intake. so if going to do that do exhaust first. motor is like you. exhaust is someone running behind you choking you as you run, make it breath out. then in.
Mickey Isle: It's the idle air bypass. It's probably louder when the motor is cold. Why install a short ram intake when you probably had a cold air intake set up from the factory? You are now defeating the purpose of an air intake.
Laveta Fathy: A cold air intake will only be a problem with the rain if the pickup point is really low. I have one, and the intake point is in front of the wheel well... over a foot off the ground and sheltered. If I drive through water that's over a foot deep, I'm already in trouble. That said, the sound your car makes is almost totally due to the exhaust. Any air intake isn't going to do much besides make some whist! ling noises. Nothing to be gained there. The whistling noises ! can be kind of loud, if you really like that sort of thing......Show more
