Delora Struzzi: It would give you enough basic training to ride a motorcycle, you will continue to learn throughout your riding career.
Lou Rought: The purpose of CBT, is to train you to be able to have some control over the bike before being a hazard on the road. It can't teach all of it but just makes sure that the initial stage is covered.I had a motorcyclist friend who was not able to ride a bike, but it may be an advantage to learn to balance on a bicycle. You should also learn the highway code....Show more
Esmeralda Pigram: Yes, but you might have to do it twice. The CBT isn't quite as easy as it was in the old days and they won't give you a CBT certificate until they are sure you've understood the basics and proven you can control the bike. If you can drive a car you're at an advantage by knowing the highway code and general road safety.Motorcycles are very stable but the first time you ride one you'll be expecting it to fall over the second you start ! turning the handlebars. It won't! It'll only fall over if you panic or grab the brake during the turn. If you make a mistake in a car, the first thing you do is brake, but on a motorcycle the solution is often to use more throttle; the bike needs power to remain stable so if you make a mistake halfway into a turn, the solution is to give the bike more power, NOT hit the brake! It takes a while to get used to that difference. You might also consider learning to ride a bicycle while you're at it. :-)...Show more
Elmo Tervo: Of course, the majority of people taking the CBT have never even sat on a motorcycle before, it's what it's there for ;)
Len Dalba: That's like saying you never bothered to learn to walk. How does a person get to an age where he can write sentences and not learn to ride a bicycle? If you grew up with so little interest in riding a bicycle then I can assure you that a motorcycle is not for you. Motorcycles require a high level of physical conf! idance to ride safely.
Ronny Dorge: Yes.That's what the ! "basic" means in Compulsory Basic Training.
