I am trying to work on my family genealogy can any one help?

answers1: Family Search <br>
<a href="http://www.familysearch.org"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.familysearch.org</a> <br>
Search the Family History Library's database, which contains millions
of names from thousands of family trees. <br>
<br>
GenCircles <br>
<a href="http://www.GenCircles.com"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.GenCircles.com</a> <br>
Searching the global tree and viewing results is free to everyone. In
addition to first and last names, the database is searchable by dates
and places of birth, baptism, marriage, death, and burial, as well as
by the names of an individual's father, mother and spouse. <br>
<br>
GeneaNet <br>
<a href="http://www.geneanet.org"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.geneanet.org</a> <br>
A database that indexes all the world's genealogical resources,
whether Net-based or not and whether free or fee-paying. <br>
<br>
Find Your Family Tree <br>
http://www.findyourfamilytree.com <br>
A free genealogy web site designed to help you find missing branches
of your family tree using Pedigree Resource File (PRF), a rapidly
expanding collection of family trees submitted by people worldwide to
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
answers2: I save this and paste it because people ask the same
question 1 - 4 times a day: <br>
<br>
What are good free sites for genealogy? <br>
Does anyone know about the {surname} family? <br>
How can I trace my family tree, for free? <br>
<br>
Sometimes thay ask in the genealogy category, Arts & Humanities ->
Genealogy. Sometimes they don't. If you search or browse the resolved
questions in the Genealogy category, you can find more links from
other people. <br>
<br>
Here are some large free sites. <br>
<br>
<a href="http://www.cyndislist.com/"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.cyndislist.com/</a> <br>
(240,000+ links, all cross-indexed.) <br>
<a href="http://www.familysearch.com"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.familysearch.com</a> <br>
(Mormon's mega-site) <br>
<a href="http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.c...</a>
<br>
(450,000,000+ entries, some excellent, some bad, most in between) <br>
http://www.ancestry.com/learn/facts/default.aspx?ln= <br>
Surname meanings and origins; no specific individuals, but fun. <br>
<br>
<br>
These are for the USA only. <br>
<br>
http://www.usgenweb.net/ <br>
(Subdivided into state sites, which all have county sites.) <br>
(Canada has a Canadian Gen Web, with sites for each province.) <br>
http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi <br>
(Social Security Death index - click on "Advanced".) <br>
http://find.person.superpages.com/ <br>
(US Phone book, for looking up distant cousins) <br>
<br>
<br>
These two are for the UK & Ireland only: <br>
http://www.genuki.org.uk <br>
http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ <br>
<br>
<br>
If you get serious, you should probably buy a genealogy program. I
like Roots Magic. Family Tree Maker is very popular. Both are $29 in
the USA, but you can sometimes find old versions in discount bins at
software stores. <br>
<br>
http://www.tedpack.org/begingen.html <br>
has some tips for beginners. <br>
<br>
I used to suggest people who were in favor of free data volunteer to
ADD to it, instead of just taking it, but I gave that up as a lost
cause. If you are interested, write to me via my profile. You will
restore my faith in humanity.
answers3: Hi <br>
<br>
There have been some excellent sites already mentioned and here are a
few more and a suggestion about joining forums: <br>
<br>
<a href="http://www.the-amateur-genealogist.com"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.the-amateur-genealogist.com</a>
<br>
<a href="http://www.all-our-family-trees.com"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.all-our-family-trees.com</a> <br>
<a href="http://www.discoveringyourfamilytree.com"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.discoveringyourfamilytree.com</a>
<br>
http://www.catholic-genealogy.com <br>
http://www.genealogy-articles.com <br>
<br>
Forums are also a great place to get assistance from other people who
are also searching for their ancestors. Two that are worth taking a
look at are: <br>
<br>
http://groups.msn.com/britishgenealogy <br>
http://www.genmates.com - which is a little like a genealogist's
MySpace with Forums, Blogs etc etc <br>
<br>
Hope that helps? <br>
<br>
Take care <br>
<br>
Paul
