can you renew plates and registration on a car if its not in your name?

Darrel Stele: Yes, but there will be forms to fill out and running around to do. It's a pain, but it can be done.

Rolanda Merritt: you could have just renewed the registration on line. you probably still can, you will need to pay a penalty for letting the registration expire though. they don't need to see you in person to get it renewed.they will send the new tags, they don't care who paid the money.

Gaylord Barragan: you can do it online. Usually they send you a form and it will have an website and a code that you put it in and his info will come up and you will have to pay with a credit card and it get mail to the address were the car was register good luck

Myesha Zerbe: Depends on the state. I've gone to the DMV before to renew the registration on all our vehicles for my father before. I guess have your mother go with you to help your case, and bring any info you might find important with you. Good luck!

Isreal Kochheiser: i live in Indiana

!

Nadia Crauswell: Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but YOU don't own this car. It is part of the deceased boyfriends estate. It was solely titled in HIS name legally making it his sole property. Securing registration, and to whom the car is given is for the executor/executrix of his estate to determine. If you can PROVE you were making all the payments (receipts, canceled checks) put in a claim against the estate. DO IT NOW!
