Author's Point of View?

answers1:I'm not entirely sure but the author could hold a view on
equality. You can see this in the large paragraph after he runs from
the class where he talks about shame and the 'worthy boys dinner' and
'white's eat shop'. The author could be subtly talking about how
things are harder for a young black boy in that time and it's not just
because he wasn't treated as an equal in the classroom but because of
how everything seems to be agains Richard. He's not a 'worthy boy' and
he can't go into 'white's eat shop'. Everything seems to be against
him. And because of everything being against him, he's going to take
things like 'you don't have a daddy' a lot harder than one should. I
think ...There's also her view on the lack of a father figure. He
can't wear good clothes because there's no work and no money coming in
except for the money from other people. Richard has a much harder time
doing things (making money, etc.) because of the lack of father. The
author could be saying that a father figure is necessary otherwise it
will be harder in life for a child because there isn't that
strength....Show more
